48 hours in Corfu town

Corfu town, especially its oldest part, is one of the most charming cities in Greece able to fascinate you with its little streets and panoramic views. Today a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is a place worth loosing yourself and letting imagination travel you to times gone by. 

Day One


10 am.
Check in to Corfu Palace. Aristocratic atmosphere, lush gardens, marbles and panoramic views of Garitsa bay, from the Old Fort to the Windmill. Siorra Vittoria Part of the history of Corfu, the 19th-century mansion that belonged to the Metaxas family, was transformed into an atmospheric boutique hotel in the heart of the city. 11 am
The famous beaches of the island, such as Glyfada and Paleokastritsa, can be found on the west side of the island, but there are beautiful beaches near the city. Organized Alykes with sand and shallow, warm waters ideal for families, popular Gouvia for swimming and water sports, Kontokali, which is the favorite of the local families with a nice view to the town and the island of Lazareto, the small beach of Kanoni with the famous Pontikonisi but also the small Mon Repo that the young people and the families of the city prefer.

2pm
Lunch in the Avli. Traditional tavern, in one of the most beautiful places in the green, in the Garitsa bay and overlooking the Old Fortress. 4pm
A walk in the Old Town of Corfu that found its place among UNESCO's World Heritage sites only in 2007 and is considered one of the most important fortified cities in the Mediterranean. It is an impressive combination of massive fortresses, palaces, narrow streets, arches and high-rise western buildings. The oldest district of the city is called Kampielo and is characterized by the very narrow alleys and tall buildings. The Old Fortress is located at the eastern end of the old town, where you can reach the impressive Spianada, which is considered to be the largest square in Greece and across the old fortress. During your walk in Spianada you will enjoy some of the most remarkable monuments of the island, such as the Palace on the north side and Liston, the photographed pedestrian street on the west side. Saint Spyridon of the 16th century houses the relic of the Saint and is the most important temple of the island. Here they start and here come the four great annual litany of the Saint.





7pm
Afternoon cocktails at Naok-Azur, one of the most beautiful all day venues in the city of Corfu, with great views of the Old Fortress and the sea that stretches right in front of it. 9pm
Dinner in the Venetian Well. The most atmospheric and romantic restaurant of the island has renewed its image and proposes a creative Mediterranean cuisine that honors Greek products. 11pm
At the heart of the city, in a restored belle epoque building of 1910, the small and sympathetic Bristol is a favorite meeting place for locals and not only. During the day, if you can find a table out, you'll see everyone in front of you. Moroccan floor tiles, artwork on the walls and other impressive decorative details in a space of style and personality.
