48 hours in Thasos

The emerald island, as it is called, is one of Greece’s greenest islands, just a few km from the airport of Kavala and the port of Keramoti. Thasos, the mythical island of the Sirens, boasts enviable sandy beaches, a forested mountain interior and picturesque villages.

Day One


10 am.
Check in to A for Art hotel, housed in a historic building of the early 20th century, characterized as a “work of art” by the Ephorate of contemporary and Modern Monuments. 11am
The exotic beach of Saliara or Marble beach is located in the northeastern part of the island with white pebbles and white sand, emerald waters, dense vegetation and it has sun beds, umbrellas and a beach bar. Right above the beach lies the quarry of the island. A little further south, beneath the village of Panagia lies the famous Golden Beach. It is wide, organized, with shallow crystal clear waters ideal for families with children.

2pm
Lunch at Krambousa taverna with tables by the sea, wooden pergola with vines and Thassian specialties. The tavern has taken its name after the small island Krambousa, which you can see at the end of the bay on your right. Raw materials come from their farm. 5pm
Wander around Limenas, where the heart of Thassos beats. In spite of being the capital of the island, Limenas has retained its charm. Its houses almost reach the sea, the pine trees too. Even the small beach here is crystal clear. Limenas is the best choice to stay in Thassos, as it has many dining and entertainment options. Families will also have everything they need, but also direct access to the port, through which there is frequent connection with Kavala.



9pm
Dinner at Sirines Restaurant. Makryammos hotel's a la carte restaurant is built of stone and wood among the pine trees a few meters from the sea, overlooking the islet across the bay. The menu is dominated by fresh fish and seafood.
